NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a South Carolina man who was shot and killed on Labor Day.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office told local news outlets that 28-year-old Matthew Rodney Simmons of Moncks Corner died in the shooting in North Charleston.
North Charleston police said Simmons was shot in a failed burglary attempt early Monday.
Police said earlier that 29-year-old Jeremy Louis Woods was arrested later Monday morning and charged with murder, first-degree burglary and possession of a gun during a violent crime.
Simmons died from several gunshot wounds.
