LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say three inmates suffered puncture wounds in a brawl at a Los Angeles County jail.
Sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader says the fight was reported shortly before 10pm Wednesday at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
Deputies used pepper spray to stop the fight in a dorm containing 94 male inmates. Officials didn’t say how many men were involved.
Three inmates were hospitalized and two were later released. One man remained in the hospital with wounds not considered life-threatening. No deputies were hurt.
Schrader says investigators believe the brawl was racially motivated.
She says two shanks were recovered during a search of the dorm.
