JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - A collection of firefighters, police officers, corrections officers and EMTs will gather in Jersey City this weekend to show off their cooking skills.
The second annual First Responders Charity Cook-Off will run on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Jersey Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2eHAmxV ) the chefs will serve up various types of chicken, sausage, pasta and green vegetables - and attendees will be able to vote for their favorite dish.
Five dollars from every ticket sale will be donated to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. The remaining proceeds will be split between charities of winning contestants’ choice. Police are competing for the Police Unity Tour, firefighters for the Jersey City Firefighter Family Fund, EMTs for Code Green Campaign and correctional officers for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
