BALTIMORE (AP) - Police in Maryland say they arrested a couple wanted in a North Carolina slaying after a traffic stop near Baltimore.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police said in a news release that early Friday, an officer stopped a car on Interstate 95 in Towson for an alleged equipment violation. Police learned that the car was connected to a slaying in Catawba County in North Carolina.

North Carolina authorities say 36-year-old Tony Ly was found fatally shot Wednesday night in Hickory.

The Charlotte Observer reports that the passenger in the car stopped in Maryland, 32-year-old James Rinkines, was charged with murder in Ly’s death. The Observer says Rinkines’ girlfriend, 23-year-old Rose Shultz, was driving the car. She is charged with accessory after the fact.
