ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A commercial aircraft on a flight to Alaska’s North Slope crashed without injuries.
Ravn Alaska officials in a news release said the aircraft with a pilot and no passengers on Wednesday landed 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) short of the runway at Atqusak (AT-kuh-suk).
The village of 225 is 60 miles (96 kilometers) south of Utqiagvik (oot-GAR’-vik), formerly known as Barrow, the country’s northernmost community.
The Ravn Connect flight carried cargo and mail.
Ravn officials say they did not immediately know why the small airplane landed short of the runway.
