JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Sexual relationships between Alaska legislators and employees under their supervision would be considered unacceptable under a policy drafted by a legislative working group.

Group member Sen. Peter Micciche (mih-CHIK’-ee) questioned whether the provision was enforceable but says it sets an expectation for behavior.

The group was tasked with updating a long-standing policy on sexual and other workplace harassment that had been criticized as vague.

It additionally worked on a professional workplace conduct policy. The language addressing sexual relationships is in the latter policy.

Neither policy is final. The group agreed to have some minor changes made to both drafts before sending them to the Legislative Council for review.

Allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against prominent men in entertainment, politics and media have prompted a national discussion on the issue.
