ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities have arrested an Albuquerque father who they say left his 8-month-old daughter in the bathtub unattended while he was watching videos on YouTube.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Mark Ramirez on Friday after the baby was found to be not breathing.
Authorities say medical personnel were able to start the baby’s pulse and hook her up to a ventilator. She was sent to an intensive care unit.
According to police documents, Ramirez told deputies that he placed the baby in the bathtub and began filling it up as he left the room.
Ramirez remains in jail on charges of abandonment or abuse of a child with great bodily harm. Court records do not list a defense attorney who could comment on the allegations.
