HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) - Firefighters searching a Northern Illinois home after extinguishing a fire there discovered the bodies of two people.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the bodies were found inside a Highland Park house that was destroyed by fire early Wednesday. Officials say that an elderly couple owned the home and apparently lived there alone but that the bodies had not been identified. The bodies were taken to the Lake County Coroner’s office for autopsies.
Officials say it appears the fire started in the kitchen but that the investigation into the cause of the blaze was ongoing.
