NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Investigators have confirmed the identity of a Louisiana woman whose body was found after she was reported missing.
New Orleans police say in a news release Wednesday that the DNA was used to identify Jean Stokes, and her death has been ruled a homicide.
She was 76 when family members reported her missing Oct. 13, two days after a relative last had contact with her by phone.
Police did not say when her body was found. There was no sign of Stokes when her SUV was discovered about a mile from where she was reported missing.
An investigation continues.
Stokes was a longtime employee of the Orleans Parish School Board and the mother of five children.
