BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Social service agencies in western Arizona are preparing for a surge of people needing places to stay as a Bullhead City motel is expected to force out its long-term occupants next month.

The Mohave Valley Daily News reports the Bullhead City Homeless Task Force is searching for housing options for residents of the 77-room Nevada Club Inn, which is seeking Chapter 11 protection.

Task force leader Patty Jacques says the situation is a community crisis as a number of elderly people will put out on the streets.

People with low incomes were referred by the agencies to the motel in the past because it was one of only a few options for these renters.

The motel did not answer calls made by the newspaper Thursday.
