FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A coroner has ruled that the death of a northeastern Indiana man inside a van that caught fire after he repeatedly rammed it into an apartment building was a suicide.

Fort Wayne police say the man briefly exited the van Wednesday after an officer ordered him to leave the vehicle. But police said, however, the man re-entered the van and it burst into flames as he continued ramming it into an apartment building’s brick wall.

The Allen County coroner’s office said Thursday that the 44-year-old man died of thermal burns and his death was a suicide.

Police say the death happened during an apparent domestic dispute and officers had been called to the same address earlier Wednesday to investigate a domestic dispute.
