CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management is seeking to reinstate independent advisory groups that were suspended last year as part of a review across the U.S. Department of the Interior.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports the Resource Advisory Council in Wyoming is looking to reach full membership by the summer after it was put on hold last May.
The 10-person council is formed by volunteer members from industry, local government and environmental groups in the state. Members hold a seat for three years each.
The council weighs in on the agency’s policies and plans for federal land in the state.
Officials say four seats will be opening up - two seats for residents in energy industries, one for someone in an environmental or archaeological field and one from local government.
