CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina and Minnesota have agreed to a home-and-home football series for 2023 and 2024.

The schools announced the deal Wednesday.

The Tar Heels will host the Gophers on Sept. 16, 2023 in Chapel Hill, then will open the season in Minneapolis in August. The two power-conference teams have never met in football, though the schools were originally set to play a home-and-home series in 2013 and 2014.

That series was canceled with the Gophers paying an $800,000 buyout fee to get out of the deal.
