WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Police in Massachusetts are investigating after a homeowner shot a man he spotted on his property.
Worcester police say at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday the 56-year-old homeowner saw a man dressed in black look into a locked car on the street and then walk into the homeowner’s yard.
Authorities say the homeowner got his gun and confronted the intruder. The men fought and the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot the homeowner. At that point the homeowner fired several rounds.
The suspect fled, but at about 1:30 a.m., police got a call from him reporting he had been shot.
The man, identified as 29-year-old Zackery Bailey, was treated and then arrested after police discovered he had an outstanding warrant for breaking and entering.
The homeowner is a licensed gun owner and is cooperating.
