COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Police say the suspect in a fatal Columbia shooting is being held without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The Columbia Tribune reports 27-year-old Javonte Roy died at a hospital after the Tuesday shooting in northeast Columbia. He says Roy was outside on a driveway when he was shot.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department Det. Tom O’Sullivan says police believe the shooter was with at least one other person and the shots came from behind a fence at a nearby home.

Sheriff’s deputies and Columbia police arrested a 19-year-old suspect Tuesday evening. No formal charges have been filed.

Residents of the area said they heard as many as 11 shots at the time Roy was injured.

O’Sullivan says investigators are still trying to determine a motive.
