MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A Berthold woman has been sentenced to a year of probation for stealing a puppy from a Minot pet store.

Police say 25-year-old Tori Francis took a $600 Shih Tzu-Bichon Yorkie mix from Pet Parade on Tuesday. Authorities acting on a tip later recovered the dog from the basement of her boyfriend’s house.

Francis on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge. She was sentenced to 10 days in jail, with all of it suspended except for the one day she served, and 360 days of unsupervised probation.
