PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a rifle-wielding woman shot at officers who then returned fire, fatally wounding the woman.

Sgt. Vince Lewis says no officers were injured in the incident, which occurred Wednesday night as several officers responded to a report of shots fired.

Lewis said the officers learned upon arrival learned that 44-year-old Alexis Stinson had already fired twice inside the home.

Lewis says the officers shot Stinson after she came out of the home and fired at police.

The incident occurred near North 47th Avenue and West Union Hills Drive.
