DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) - The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says a woman walked past railroad signals in Del Mar and was fatally struck by an Amtrak train.
The woman was struck late Sunday morning at the intersection of 15th Street and Coast Boulevard and died at the scene.
The northbound train was traveling at approximately 48 mph (77 kph) at the time.
