GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A sorority at a North Carolina college has been suspended for three years for hazing.

News sources report East Carolina University suspended the Alpha Phi sorority last month for unspecified reasons as its national organization and the school conducted an investigation.

On Friday, the school said its investigation found that members of the chapter participated in hazing, along with violating the risk management policy, university policies as well as the Student Code of Conduct.

After a hearing on Thursday, the school suspended Alpha Phi for three years. It can reapply for a campus chapter in May 2021. If it returns to campus, the sorority would be placed on probation for two years and be required to establish plans for hazing prevention and awareness, prohibited conduct and education on substance abuse.
