AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Police in the northeast Ohio city of Akron say officers have shot and killed a man who hours earlier fatally shot his wife.
It was the second police shooting in Akron in less than 24 hours. A 30-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot by officers Friday evening after being ordered to drop a handgun.
The 49-year-old man, who hasn’t been identified, died at a hospital around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police spokesman Lt. Rick Edwards says the man’s 49-year-old wife was found dead in a camper outside a home around 6 a.m. Edwards says officers spent several hours looking for him while receiving reports of a carjacking and armed confrontations.
Edwards says the man was shot when he refused orders to drop a gun and tried to flee on foot.
