GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A Delaware woman who prosecutors say targeted Hispanic victims while pretending to be an immigration officer has pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree robbery charged as hate crimes and other counts.
The Delaware Department of Justice announced 51-year-old Michelle Spicer’s guilty plea Friday. The Georgetown woman also pleaded guilty to one count each of second-degree conspiracy, theft and criminal impersonation of a law enforcement officer.
A news release says Spicer used a cap gun to rob or attempt to rob the victims of cash and personal possessions.
The department says a judge sentenced Spicer to a minimum of seven years in prison, 12 months in a residential substance abuse treatment program, then 3 years of probation.
She was also ordered to pay restitution and undergo a mental health evaluation.
