Twitter suspended an account Friday for posting a threatening image of Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, after users demanded action.

A Twitter user shared a photo of Ms. McCain crying over her father’s casket and Photoshopped a gun aimed at the senator’s daughter. It came with the caption, “America, this one’s for you.”

The account was removed from the site by 11:30 a.m.

Before the suspension, Ms. McCain’s husband, Ben Domenech, slammed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey earlier Friday morning, demanding why action was not taken yet.

His message was shared hundreds of times with users demanding that not only the offensive tweet be removed, but the account as well.

Mr. Domenech, founder and publisher of The Federalist, explained that the photo was repeatedly reported to Twitter but was not removed. The user made his account private after the tweet went viral.

It is unclear who actually ran the Twitter account that posted the photo.

Ms. McCain and the rest of her family are honoring the life of John McCain in a Friday ceremony at the U.S. Capitol’s rotunda, where he is lying in state. The senator and war hero will be buried Sunday at the Naval Academy.
