ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - Police say a man set an apartment on fire and then shot an arrow at officers as they moved to apprehend him.

St. Albans police tell WPTZ-TV that a 30-year-old man is facing arson and attempted aggravated assault charges for intentionally setting a Friday afternoon fire at an apartment building in St. Albans.

A witness advised police that the man was carrying knives and a bow.

Police found the man at a family member’s residence in a playhouse where he also lit several items on fire. Police say the man shot an arrow from inside the playhouse at approaching officers.

Police say the man left the playhouse after negotiating with police. One cat died in the fire, which firefighters contained the fire to one bedroom.
