President Trump has asked all Cabinet agencies to find extra money that could be used to build his border wall, the White House said Tuesday.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Mr. Trump has asked all federal agencies “to look and see if they have money that can be used for that purpose.”

“We’re looking at every possible avenue available to us,” she said.

She added that the White House is waiting to see what kind of spending bill the Senate passes and whether it addresses Mr. Trump’s request of $1.6 billion in wall funding or some other amount.

“We want to see what the Senate can pass,” she said. “They’ve thrown out a lot of ideas.”

Lawmakers are facing a Friday deadline to pass a funding bill to keep the government open.
