LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Department of Transportation says it will use a $20 million federal grant to improve winter safety along a stretch of Interstate 80.
The highway agency seeks to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow during the winter on a 45-mile (72-kilometer) section between Laramie and Rawlins.
The Laramie Boomerang reports the improvements will include adding truck passing lanes on uphill areas and building parking areas for travelers to wait out winter storms.
A study found that slow-moving trucks lead to some crashes in the area.
