BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say a 30-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after his 74-year-old grandmother was found dead in her Buffalo home.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced Monday that a relative of Pamela Toy asked police to do a welfare check on her Sunday night at her home in the city’s South Buffalo section.

Flynn says when officers arrived they found her dead inside the home. A cause of death hasn’t been determined, but Flynn says it appears she may have been bludgeoned.

Prosecutors say he’ll be assigned a lawyer.
