NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a Mississippi woman who was attacked by two pit bulls is recovering.

Lt. Cal Green with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office tells The Natchez Democrat that 26-year-old Lindsay Barber had gone to visit friends Friday at the Plantation Trailer Park.

Green says the dogs chased Barber out of a house and into the yard. Authorities say a friend at the scene was able to fend the dogs off the woman, but not before she suffered damage to her face and torso.

Authorities say Barber was taken to Jackson for more extensive treatment. The dogs are being held in kennels.

Green says the case has been turned over to the Adams County District Attorney’s office to determine if charges would be filed and whether the dogs should be euthanized.
