INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis police dog that had a nose for illicit cash and drugs has died at age 12.
Timo (TEE’-mo) had cancer and was euthanized Monday. The Dutch shepherd served with Indianapolis police for 10 years, helping his handler find more than $3 million and thousands of pounds of marijuana and other drugs during many investigations.
The police department released a video of Timo getting a final salute from officers. He passed a line of other police dogs as he entered a clinic to be euthanized to end pain and suffering.
A dispatcher on the video says, “We have lost a great partner.”
