ST. LOUIS (AP) - A church in north St. Louis is cleaning up once again after being vandalized for the sixth time in less than a year.
Maple Temple Church of God in Christ leaders told KTVI-TV they consider the vandalism a hate crime. Police have no suspects.
Members of the congregation arrived Sunday to find shattered stained glass littering the pews. Like the previous crimes, someone threw chunks of pavement through the windows.
A vulgar anti-Christian note was left behind after one of the attacks.
Senior pastor John Watson Sr. says repair bills are nearly $15,000 and climbing. He says the church, with a small congregation, lacks the money to pay for all the needed repairs.
