The United States men’s hockey team advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang with a 5-1 defeat of Slovakia Tuesday.

Ryan Donato led Team USA with two goals and Vienna, Virginia, native Garrett Roe scored in the third period.

The U.S. will play the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 10:10 p.m. Eastern.

Slovakia is the only squad Team USA has beaten in men’s hockey thus far. The U.S. went 1-2 in the preliminary rounds; losses to Slovenia and the Olympic Athletes of Russia that sandwiched a 2-1 victory over Slovakia.

But after scoring a combined four goals in those first three games, the U.S. found their offense and more than doubled their goal total with five in Tuesday’s game.

The other three quarterfinal matches are Norway-Olympic Athletes of Russia, Canada-Finland and Sweden-Germany. If the U.S. wins Wednesday, it will advance to face either Norway or the Olympic Athletes of Russia.
