ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Blustery wintry weather is on tap for much of New Mexico through much of the weekend.

The National Weather Service says a storm system will drop rain and light to moderate snowfall in northern and central New Mexico late Friday through early Saturday.

Forecasters warn of snow-packed and icy driving road conditions and reduced visibilities in the San Juan Mountains as strong to potentially damaging winds are expected to develop in central and south-central parts of the state.

Gusts may reach up to around 50 to 65 mph in the south-central mountains and southwestern Chaves County late Friday.

Strong winds may continue into Saturday afternoon, and a quick-moving storm system will move across far northern New Mexico late Saturday and early Sunday with light snow accumulations expected in the mountains.
