WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Police say a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian in Warwick has been arrested.

Warwick Police said Sunday that 58-year-old James Pinel, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, was charged with failing to stop in an accident resulting in personal injury or death.

Police say 31-year-old Eduardo Amaral, of Warwick, remains in the hospital in stable condition after he was hit Wednesday evening.

Pinel was arraigned in a special session of District Court and released on $2,000 with surety.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Pinel who could comment on his behalf.

Police say they arrested Pinel after seizing his car in West Warwick.
