TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Tempe say a man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old woman.

Andrew Kerr was taken into custody Tuesday and is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Police say Ijanae Ennals was found dead Monday from a single gunshot wound inside a Tempe hotel room.

They say Ennals and the 23-year-old Kerr were acquaintances.

Police say they found evidence linking Kerr to the killing after they got a search warrant for his car and home.

Kerr initially denied any involvement in the incident and police say he eventually requested to speak to an attorney.

It was unclear Thursday if Kerr has a lawyer for his case yet.
