BERYL, Utah (AP) - Authorities in Utah’s Iron County say a 50-year-old man is dead after his pickup truck was hit by a train.

County Sheriff’s officials say they were called to the scene about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

They say the train’s conductor is cooperating with the investigation and authorities are trying to determine if the vehicle was stuck on the tracks.

The name of the dead man hasn’t been released yet.

Sheriff’s officials say the driver of the truck may have been impaired at the time of the crash.

Fire crews were called to the scene to help extract the man’s body.

Authorities say the Union Pacific train didn’t derail and no cargo was spilled.
