PHOENIX (AP) - A woman walking across a Phoenix street was fatally struck Sunday night by a passing vehicle.

Phoenix police say the 56-year-old woman was trying to cross Thomas near 29th Street when she was struck by the vehicle.

She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.



Police say the man driving the vehicle showed signs of impairment and could face criminal charges.

They say the man drove a short distance after the collision but pulled over.
