SEABROOK, N.H. (AP) - A judge has dismissed a $500 million lawsuit brought by a 19-year-old who was roughed up by a police officer in Seabrook, New Hampshire.

The Daily News of Newburyport reports that Rockingham Superior Court Judge David Anderson ruled that the handwritten lawsuit brought by Michael Bergeron exceeded the statute of limitations.

Town Manager William Manzi called the ruling “good news for the town and the taxpayers of Seabrook.”

The incident happened in 2009. More than six years later, the Seabrook officer involved in the assault, Mark Richardson, was sentenced to 21 days after a video of the arrest surfaced.

The video showed the officer slamming Bergeron against cinderblock wall at the police station. Richardson pleaded guilty to simple assault after a mistrial.
