Sen. David Perdue said Wednesday that the border security funds included in the immigration bill must include funding specifically for a wall in order for President Trump to sign off on it.

“Any DACA solution has got to include border security, to include a wall, and end of chain migration and an end to this diversity lottery. He’s been very clear on that from the beginning,” Mr. Perdue, Georgia Republican, said on Fox News.

Mr. Perdue was reacting to news that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has taken border wall funding off the table for the next round of negotiations on DACA —Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals — and immigration reform. Mr. Perdue said that without this funding it will be hard to reach an agreement the president would sign.

Mr. Trump tweeted late Tuesday night with similarly strong sentiments about the border wall.

“Cryin’ Chuck Schumer fully understands, especially after his humiliating defeat, that if there is no Wall, there is no DACA. We must have safety and security, together with a strong Military, for our great people!” he tweeted.
