AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A former Maine sheriff’s employee who was once named Deputy of the Year has reached a plea deal with prosecutors to have 20 sexual assault charges filed against him dismissed.

The Bangor Daily News reports 47-year-old Kenneth Hatch is expected to plead guilty Friday to one misdemeanor count of providing a place for minors to consume alcohol. His attorney said Thursday that Hatch will pay a $1,000 fine and serve no jail time.

Hatch was found not guilty in November of sexual abuse of a minor, unlawful sexual contact and furnishing marijuana to a minor. The jury remained hung on the other 20 charges, leading the judge to declare a mistrial.

Prosecutors have declined to comment.

Hatch was fired from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office earlier this month.
