PITTSBURGH (AP) - A former Duquesne University basketball player has been ordered to stand trial on charges of raping a University of Pittsburgh student in his dorm room last fall.

Nineteen-year-old Nick Washington was held for trial Wednesday in Allegheny County on four felony counts and one misdemeanor.

Defense attorney Casey White maintains that his client was intimate with the alleged victim at a Sept. 1 fraternity party, and they returned to his dorm and had consensual relations.

White’s accuser tearfully testified they had been drinking and went back to his dorm to use his charger since her cellphone had died, but he assaulted her there.

The prosecution says that what happened before the two went back to the dorm room has no bearing on what happened after.
