WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A Bronx man has been sentenced to jail boot camp for a crash on a suburban parkway that killed four people, including his 2-year-old daughter.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. says Nerim Sinanovic (NEER’-ihm sih-NAH’-noh-vihk) pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide for the 2015 crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown.

His SUV crashed after Sinanovic turned toward the back seat and steered with his knees.

His wife grabbed the wheel but the SUV crossed the median and struck another car, fatally injuring three members of another family.

A toxicology report indicated Sinanovic had taken more than a therapeutic dose of anxiety medicine.

Scarpino says the four-month jail term and five years of probation honor the wishes of “a family who chose forgiveness and compassion.”
