HARFTORD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Hartford say a woman was killed and a child was injured when their vehicle was hit by a car speeding through a red light.

Police took the driver of the car that hit them into custody Thursday night. They say he was driving on the wrong side of the road to pass cars that were stopped at the intersection.

Investigators say the crash was captured by surveillance video.

Police say the driver in custody is a 24-year-old convicted felon. They did not release his name.
