JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - A southwest Missouri man will stand trial in connection to a stabbing at a shelter that eventually led to the victim’s leg being amputated.
The Joplin Globe reports a Jasper County Circuit Court judge ruled at a preliminary hearing Thursday that there was probable cause for 31-year-old Bradley Cook to stand trial for first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
Allen Johnson testified that Cook stabbed him Oct. 28 outside of the Watered Gardens shelter in Joplin. Both men were staying at the shelter at the time.

Johnson says he was stabbed twice in the back, once in the side of his chest and once in his leg. The leg wound became infected, and the leg later had to be amputated.
Cook will appear in a trial division of the court Feb. 5.
