TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Kianna Ibis scored 26 points and No. 25 Arizona State defeated No. 23 California 80-71 on Friday night.

Jamie Ruden added 14 points and Robbi Ryan 13 while Charnea Johnson-Chapman grabbed 10 rebounds and the nation’s assist-to-turnover leader, Reili Richardson, passed out a career-high 11 assists with no miscues for the Sun Devils (12-3, 3-0), winners of five in a row.

Asha Thomas scored 25 points and Kristine Anigwe, a junior from Phoenix, scored 24 points with seven rebounds for the Golden Bears (10-14, 1-2), who have lost two straight after a seven-game winning streak.

Leading 56-50, Ibis and Ruden made back-to-back baskets to open the final period for a 10-point lead.

Thomas hit a 3-pointer then added another bucket to get the Bears within six, 77-71, with 20 seconds left but those were Cal’s last points.
