SYDNEY (AP) - First-place Sydney FC rallied twice from a goal down to draw 2-2 with second-place Newcastle, maintaining an eight-point lead in Australian football’s A-League.

Newcastle led after 10 minutes with a goal by Andrew Nabbout but Sydney equalized within five minutes through Serbia striker Milos Ninkovic.

Joey Champness put the Jets ahead again on the hour mark before Brazil’s Bobo brought Sydney level.

Sydney had 62 percent possession and 19 shots to Newcastle’s 12 but couldn’t add to its record of 11 wins from 14 games this season.

Melbourne City also had to come from behind to beat last-place Wellington 2-1 and to move back to third place. Fiji striker Roy Krishna scored first for Wellington but Melbourne took the lead with a second-half double to Ross McCormack.

Adelaide beat Perth 3-0 to move into fourth, just ahead of the Melbourne Victory who were held to a 1-1 draw by Central Coast.
