GREER, S.C. (AP) - Freezing rain and drizzle is headed to South Carolina’s Upstate.

The National Weather Service in Greer has issued a winter weather advisory Monday for five counties in the northwestern part of the state. Light snow or sleet is possible at higher elevations in the mountains.

Forecasters say freezing rain and drizzle is expected from the mountains as far east as Spartanburg by early Monday afternoon.

Schools across the area are closed because of the frozen precipitation.

Meanwhile, some schools are still closed in central and eastern South Carolina from last week’s coastal snowstorm.
