PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A body has been found in one of three triple-deckers that burned in a massive fire in Providence over the weekend, and media report a city inspector recommended the house be condemned days before the fire.

The body was found Monday, two days after the Saturday fire in the city’s Olneyville section. Authorities have not yet released the person’s identity, but have said previously that a woman was missing after the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

An inspector wrote Jan. 3 that there was no heat or running water, and that “occupants were running space heaters” and “numerous propane torches.”

Resident Roland Colpitts told WPRI-TV he sent photos of the conditions to the city Dec. 20 and he’s upset the city did not act faster.
