STANTON, Del. (AP) - A Delaware man has been charged with seven car thefts, including a carjacking with two children inside the vehicle.
According to media reports, Charles Mason IV faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with a carjacking from a Wawa parking lot near Stanton on Jan. 4. In that incident, a woman left her car with two children in the parking lot and quickly went into the store.
A spokesman for Delaware State Police said that when she came out five minutes later, the car and the children inside were gone. The car was found five minutes later when a passerby saw a man abandon the car in a driveway. Both children, ages 1 and 5, were in the car and not injured.
