SALEM, Va. (AP) — Bobby Dalbec hit two home runs and drove in five runs, as the Salem Red Sox defeated the Winston-Salem Dash 8-4 on Tuesday.
Dalbec hit a three-run shot in the third inning and then hit a two-run homer in the fifth, both off Blake Battenfield. Trenton Kemp hit two solo homers in the win.
Salem starter Bryan Mata (6-2) picked up the win despite allowing four runs and six hits over five innings. Opposing starter Battenfield (1-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and eight hits over five innings. Kevin McAvoy pitched four scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
