DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) — Connor Eller, Jonathan Cheshire and Jackson McClelland combined for a shutout as the Dunedin Blue Jays topped the Clearwater Threshers 6-0 on Tuesday.
Eller (4-2) went 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing five hits while striking out four to get the win. Alejandro Requena (1-2) went five innings, allowing five runs and five hits in the Florida State League game. He also struck out five and walked two.
In the bottom of the fourth, Dunedin crossed the plate for four runs, including a two-run double by Rodrigo Orozco. The Blue Jays then added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Riley Adams hit an RBI single, while David Jacob hit a solo home run in the sixth.
Henri Lartigue singled three times for the Threshers. Clearwater was blanked for the third time this season, while the Dunedin staff recorded its sixth shutout of the year.
