MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — P.J. Higgins hit a three-run home run and had four hits as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Carolina Mudcats 11-3 on Tuesday.
Myrtle Beach had a pair of big innings in the blowout victory, scoring four runs in the second inning and six in the sixth.
In the second, Roberto Caro hit a two-run double, while Higgins hit a three-run home run and Kevonte Mitchell hit a solo home run in the sixth.
Myrtle Beach right-hander Erich Uelmen (3-1) picked up the win after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Cameron Roegner (8-5) took the loss in the Carolina League game after allowing four runs and six hits over four innings.
